A plain-English guide to getting more out of Claude on the plan you already pay for: how usage is counted, how to keep context small, which model to use when and how to set up projects so you stop repeating yourself.
Each chapter is one change you can make today. Most take less than a minute to apply.
From chapter one, so you can see what the guide is like.
Claude does not remember a conversation the way you do. Each time you send a message, the entire thread goes back in: every earlier message, every reply and every file you attached. Message forty in a long chat costs many times more than message four, even if you only typed one line.
On the paid Claude plans your usage is counted inside a session window that resets every five hours, with a weekly limit on top. You can see where you stand under Settings, then Usage.
Opus is the strongest model and it uses your allowance fastest. Sonnet handles most everyday work at a fraction of the cost. Haiku is the quickest and cheapest. Choosing the right one per task is the biggest lever you have.

Most of it does. The habits that save the most, one task per chat, small context and clear prompts, help on every plan.
It is written for Claude.ai and Claude Code. The context and prompting chapters apply to any AI assistant.
Every fact in it was checked in October 2026. We update it when the plans or features change, and the email list hears about it first.
